Wells has been competing at the top of this sport for over a decade, and though she’s made it clear that the end of her career is fast approaching, if retirement is coming, it’s not because she isn’t still capable of competing amongst the best women on earth.
She qualified for her 10th CrossFit Games this year, and remarkably, had the same finish she did as a rookie 11 seasons prior, 16th. She also placed 16th at the first WFP Tour Stop, and some may have thought her days of being in the top-10 of an elite field were behind her… but not so fast.
At the second Tour Stop in Mesa, we were treated to glimpses of the version of her that made her the podium threat throughout her career. Five top-ten finishes, nothing worse than 17th, a third and a seventh on the final day, and only 14 points off a podium finish against the strongest field of the year. That performance has us excited for what she’ll bring in the Finals, whether it’s her last hoorah or not.
